In The West werden fiktionale Welten entwickelt, die sich mit dem Kulturimperialismus auseinandersetzen und die Konstruktionsmittel visueller Landschaften hinterfragen, welche die sozioökonomischen Beziehungen zwischen dem globalen Süden, dem Osten und dem Westen bis heute prägen. Exotismus entsteht als Projektion westlicher Wunschphantasie und als ästhetische Ausbeutung des Fremden im Imperium westlicher Massenkulturen.
The West zeichnet eine performative Studie westlicher Besetzungsstrategien, untersucht didaktische Methoden des kulturellen Imperialismus und wirft einen Blick auf westliche Gesellschaften als Traumfabrik künstlicher Authentizität.

In The West, fictional worlds are developed that engage with cultural imperialism and question the means of constructing visual landscapes that continue to shape socio-economic relations between the global South, the East and the West today. Exoticism emerges as a projection of Western wishful fantasy and as an aesthetic exploitation of the foreign in the empire of Western mass cultures.
The West draws a performative study of Western occupation strategies, examines didactic methods of cultural imperialism and takes a look at Western societies as dream factories of artificial authenticity.
