Open For Everything

17 Dez 2012 - 01 Feb 2012

Open for Everything“ is a journey through the stagnant lives of Europe’s Roma communities in misery. Roma exist in the public perception mainly as a problem: as impoverished, criminal „gypsies“ unwilling to integrate. At the same time, the exoticising myth of the travelling people conceals the catastrophic living conditions of the marginalised and persecuted ethnic minority. Constanza Macras nevertheless takes up the motif of travelling and confronts the experiences of flight and migration of the Roma with the occupational nomadism of the dancers of the DorkyPark company. The production is being developed with 17 Roma musicians, dancers and amateurs of different ages from Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic, as well as with five dancers from the company Constanza Macras | DorkyPark, who come from Israel, Germany, the Netherlands, Canada and South Korea.
