Heute, da sich die Krise in wirtschaftlicher und ökologischer Hinsicht verschärft, die Menschheit die schädlichen Auswirkungen der Digitalisierung auf die Umwelt leugnet und der Platz der Bühne weitgehend in Gefahr ist, wird die Realität des Theaters mit einem großen Fragezeichen versehen. Stages of Crisis“ bewegt sich zwischen übermäßigem Konsum und den globalen Initiativen und Reaktionen, die im Internet entstehen und von einem ängstlichen „horror vacui“ und Kochbüchern unter Verschluss genährt werden. Der Individualismus ist in der Krise, orientiert sich aber nicht an der Natur, um Formen des Kollektivismus zu finden; ein neuer Weg, der daran scheitert, dass die Solidarität als solche nicht etabliert ist und räuberische Formen weiterhin vorherrschen.
Der kreative Prozess begann im Jahr 2019, sollte im Mai 2020 uraufgeführt werden und musste auf Mai 2021 verschoben werden. Aufgrund der aktuellen Situation ist es dem HAU und der Künstlerin nach wie vor nicht möglich, das Werk live zu präsentieren – der Kontext der Pandemie überlagert den längst gewählten Titel des Stücks. Stattdessen wird es Live-Streams (14.-16. Mai) und eine Videoaufzeichnung (22.+23. Mai) davon geben.
Today, as the crisis deepens economically and ecologically, as humanity moves forward in denial of the harmful effects of digitalisation in the environment and the place of the stage is largely in danger, the reality of theatre is put into a big question mark. “Stages of Crisis” transits between over consumption and the global initiatives and reactions born in the internet and fed by a fearful ‘horror vacui’ and cookbooks in lockdown. Individualism is in crisis, but does not orient itself towards nature in order to find forms of collectivism; a new path that fails because solidarity as such has not been established and predatory forms continue to prevail.
The creative process started in 2019, was to be premiered in may 2020 and had to be postponed to may 2021. Due to the current situation, it is still not possible for HAU and the artist to present this work live – the context of the pandemic hangs over the title of the piece chosen long ago. Instead, live streams (14-16 May) and a video recording (22+23 May) of the same will be made.
